New
- Full size preview. A Full size button next to the device sizes drops the window frame and shows your page at its real size, filling the whole preview area. It works in every studio.
- About tab in Settings. Settings → About shows the AppBlips version you’re running (desktop app or browser version), links to the website and source code, and a Report a bug link that opens a new issue on GitHub.
Improved
- Preview toolbar: Rotate, Full size and a new Reload button are always in the same place, so the toolbar no longer shifts when you switch devices. Buttons that don’t apply to the current view are greyed out.
- Phone and tablet previews: no desktop-style browser bar, just like a real phone or tablet. While the AI is testing your page, its status and Stop button appear in the preview toolbar instead.
- Images in games: the Game Studio can use Pollinations to make title art, backgrounds and sprites.
- Questions about connectors: in Ask mode, the AI knows which services you’ve connected, instead of wrongly saying it can’t use them.
- Guided tour: updated for Publish, Full size, Reload, importing a site and Settings → Connectors. Imported sites get their own steps.
Look and feel
- In the dark theme, the live code card on the building screen has a soft white border instead of a red one.
- The guided tour’s cards stand out clearly against the dark theme.
New
-
Pollinations connector for AI images and AI features. Connect your Pollinations account in Settings → Connectors → Pollinations, then ask the AI for:
- Generated images: custom pictures instead of stock photos. When you publish or export, the images are copied into your site, so they stay online with it.
- AI features: chatbots, writing helpers, image generators and more, inside the websites and apps you build. You choose who pays when visitors use them: Visitors use their own Pollen (the default) or My key pays.
- Token usage in the chat. Each reply shows how many tokens it used, and a live counter counts up while the AI works. Both are marked “(estimate)”, because AI providers count tokens differently.
Improved
- Surge in Connectors: a Surge tile in Settings → Connectors lets you sign in, create an account or sign out without publishing anything.
- Sharing a published site: the share buttons in the Publish window show each service’s logo.
- Onboarding: setup is split into three short steps: your name, your chat avatar, then your AI provider.
- Code tab: shown by default.
- Chat bubbles: the rewind button sits inside your message, next to copy. The copy button is easier to see in the dark theme.
- Renamed button: “Browser view” is now Preview.
Look and feel
- New wave-and-blip app icon, shown next to the AppBlips name throughout the app.
- Refreshed preview background in dark mode.
- The building screen is easier to read in the light theme.
- Connector icons no longer sit on a coloured square.
For developers
npm run devonly answers on your own computer (localhost). Usenpm run dev -- --hostto open it to your network.
Improved
- Updates for the Microsoft Store version: AppBlips now tells you when a new version is out and links to its Store page, since the Store can take a few days to install it on its own.
Look and feel
- The build pane uses neutral greys in the dark theme. Your messages and the AI’s replies are easier to tell apart.
- The message box has more contrast in the dark theme, and Send lights up when there is text to send.
New
- Publish to the web with Surge. One click puts an app, website or game online at a free
<name>.surge.shaddress with HTTPS. Sign in to (or create) your own Surge account in the Publish window. A project that’s already online shows Update site and Unpublish. See Publishing. - More connectors: Square (payment links for buy, pay and donate buttons), tawk.to (live chat), and Umami and Plausible (visitor analytics).
- Prompts to try: every connector page has ready-made requests with Copy buttons.
- Request a connector: a form at the end of Settings → Connectors sends your suggestion to the AppBlips team.
Improved
- Starter ideas: each studio has dozens of ideas, shuffled every launch. Browse them with the arrow keys or by swiping.
- Copy buttons in every chat bubble.
- Onboarding asks for your name and a chat avatar.
- Factory reset now replays first-run setup.
- Theme toggle (sun and moon) on the studio picker.
Look and feel
- Restyled preview toolbar, with readable buttons in the light theme.
- Connector cards show each service’s logo and link to its website.
- Brand-red accents on the studio picker and the selected preview device.
New
- Connectors. A new Settings → Connectors tab lists services the AI can wire into your projects, starting with Web3Forms: with it turned on, forms in your sites send their entries to you. Each connector has a How it works dialog.
- Licenses tab in Settings, listing the open source software AppBlips includes.
- Setup steps after a build. When a project needs something only you can supply, such as an API key, the AI’s last message ends with numbered steps.
Improved
- Code Review asks Fix problems or Not now before fixing anything. Its screenshots cover whole pages, and every problem it reports must point to a screenshot that shows it.
- Settings asks you to confirm before clearing your saved AI provider.
- The first-visit tour invitation goes away on its own.
- The project name is treated as a name, not as instructions for the AI.
- Fixed: the Linux
.debpackage showed a generic icon in the launcher. - A security issue was fixed.
Look and feel
- Light themes for the studio picker, the first-build screen and the building phone.
- New AppBlips wordmark on the studio picker, setup and empty preview screens.
- The setup screen has a monochrome look and works properly on phones.
- Interface text can no longer be highlighted by accident. Chat messages and fields can still be selected and copied.
Improved
- Windows: AppBlips for Windows now comes only from the Microsoft Store, which is signed and updates itself. GitHub releases no longer include a Windows installer.
- Projects folder: new installs save projects in AppData instead of Documents. Existing installs keep their folder.
- Code Review is marked beta and is off by default for new installs.
- The preview’s address bar shows your project name.
- A Discord link was added to the studio picker.
- Fixed: the preview lost its scroll bar after applying a click-to-edit change.
- Docker: the voice input model is no longer downloaded again on every rebuild.
New
- Microsoft Store version for Windows 10 (version 1809) and later.
- Voice input. Speak your prompt into the microphone. Speech is turned into text on your own computer, so no audio leaves it.
- Paste screenshots straight into the message box.
Improved
- Anthropic is the default AI provider, and prompt caching makes repeat requests to it cheaper.
- Build mode answers questions instead of changing your project when you only ask something.
- Drag to move is smoother, and the preview no longer flashes when it updates.
- The live code window stays visible for the whole build.
- Updates install quietly and restart AppBlips.
- New app icon.
Improved
- The Reasoning setting (previously “Reasoning: building”) also applies to edits and automatic repairs.
- More safety checks when importing a site from a
.zip. - A legal footer was added to the studio picker.
New
- Browser version. Run AppBlips from source or with Docker and use it in your browser. See Run from source and Docker.
Improved
- Review checks your app at mobile, tablet and desktop sizes and reports layout problems such as sideways scrolling, broken images and missing labels.
- Reasoning for builds defaults to Low.
- Fixed: click-to-edit failed on text that contained styled words.
- Security fixes found by code scanning.
New
- Import a site. Open your own React + Vite project from a
.zip, edit it with the AI and export it again. A Files tab lets you browse and preview its files. See Importing sites. - Anthropic as an AI provider.
- Output tokens setting under Settings → AI.
Improved
- Long builds no longer get cut off halfway: AppBlips asks for more room and continues replies that stop early.
- Clearer messages when error checking finds a problem.
- Fixed: a false “unsaved changes” warning.
For developers
- Ctrl+Alt+Shift+I opens the developer tools in the desktop app.
New
- More AI providers: connect directly to OpenAI, Gemini or DeepSeek, alongside OpenRouter, or use a model on your own computer with LM Studio or Ollama.
- Model lists: load and refresh the models your provider offers, or type a model ID yourself.
Improved
- Device previews show your computer’s current time.
- Each release includes a
SHA256SUMS.txtfile so you can check your download. See Code signing policy.
Improved
- Desktop only. AppBlips became a single-user desktop app. The online studio, with its accounts and paid plans, was removed, and Export became the way to take your app out of AppBlips.
- A first-run setup screen helps you connect your own AI key.
- Fixed: some generated apps crashed because two copies of Preact loaded.
